Why history matters

The Domain history section examines a site's past through archived snapshots. Metrics tell you how strong a domain is, while history answers what it used to be: a normal website, a doorway page, a casino, or a parked domain. A domain with a solid DR but a spammy past is a bad purchase.

What history reveals

• How many snapshots exist and in which years the site was alive.
• Which status codes the site returned (200 — working, 301/302 — redirecting, 404/5xx — broken).
• What the topic was and whether it changed (a topic change is a common sign of a domain bought up for spam).
• Redirects to other domains, hosting placeholder pages, domain-for-sale pages.

Processing progress

At the bottom of the page, in the launch panel, an indicator shows the current stage: after the task starts — CDX filtering 0/N (N is the number of domains in the task), on completion — Processing complete (the label fades out after a few seconds). The indicator does not show intermediate stages.
