How to check

  1. Paste up to five domain names, one per line.
  2. Click Check domains. We query the web archive for each domain; it usually answers within 10–40 seconds.
  3. Read the year-by-year chart: steady snapshots with 2xx codes mean a living site, gaps and redirects mean drops or resale.

What you get

  • Snapshots by year, split by response code: live pages, redirects, client and server errors.
  • Date of the first snapshot: how long the domain has existed on the web.
  • Technologies, page title and language of the last saved copy of the home page.
  • How many snapshots were redirects and how many subdomains the domain had.

What the numbers mean

Snapshots
How many times the archive saved pages of the domain. More snapshots in a year usually mean a more active site.
Response codes
What the site answered when the archive saved it: 2xx is a live page, 3xx a redirect, 4xx a missing page, 5xx a server error. Years with mostly 3xx or 4xx are red flags.
First snapshot
The earliest date the archive saw the domain. Older than the registration date means the name was used before and dropped.
Technologies
What the last saved home page was built with: CMS, frameworks, trackers. Detected from the page source.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the history come from?

From the public web archive. We request the list of snapshots and the last saved copy of the home page; nothing is paid, so the check is free for you.

Why does it take up to a minute?

The archive answers slowly and sometimes refuses a request; we retry through our own infrastructure. Results appear as soon as the archive responds.

What does a topic change look like?

A site about one subject for years and then a sudden switch of language, title or technologies, often with a burst of redirects, usually means the domain was dropped and reused. The full check shows the topic for every year.

Why are there no snapshots?

Either the domain never had a public site, or the archive did not crawl it. Zero snapshots means there is no history to inherit.

What does the full check add?

Year-by-year topics and spam categories, anchors from the archive, site structure, redirect targets and an AI verdict for each domain, plus link metrics.
