Errors and retries

What to do when a domain finishes with an error

Occasionally individual domains finish with an error: a third-party data source did not respond, the domain behaved unexpectedly, and so on. Errors never bring down the task — the remaining domains are processed as usual.

  • Domains with errors are collected under the "Errors" filter tab; the reason is shown in the Analysis column as "Error: reason".
  • Once the task has finished, such domains in Domain selection and Domain history offer the "Retry domain processing" action — the domain is sent for another check without creating a new task.
  • In Link check and Site DR there is no retry for an individual domain: there the whole task is restarted — "Restart task" in the task list.
  • No money is charged for a domain that finished with an error. A retry is a new check: it is charged at the section's price, and if the balance is not enough for even one domain, the retry will not start.
  • Many temporary failures are retried automatically while the task is still running.

Task pauses

  • Balance ran out — the task pauses and automatically resumes from where it stopped once you top up.
  • A problem with your own API key — the task pauses; save a working key or switch to the service's data, and the task will continue (see Your own API key).
